I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Luke Carlton, as you might have guessed from the url. What you might not know, is that I am an Animator, Illustrator and all around creative type. Well I hope thats the illusion I give. I can do a bit of web design too, if the situation calls for it.
I love creating stuff. It's the best part of my job. I am constantly evolving, and applying new skills, in everything I do. I work hard to create new and interesting ways of evoking an idea or emotion from my work.
First off, I love hand drawn animation and motion graphics. These are two very different things and are both very enjoyable mediums to work in. I love hand drawn animation because it is truly bespoke. Each frame is its own, there is nothing else in the world like that one frame. I find that hand drawn animation, even though it can take a long time, is a real labour of love. You don't see a lot of hand drawn animation these day, because of time it "can" take. But I have to point out that when done right, hand drawn animation can cut through anything, really grabbing the viewer. It awakens something in people. That child like optimism that just wants to believe in everything that it sees.
Motion graphics are slick and stylish. These two factors are why I enjoy it so much. Motion Graphics, in recent years, has taken a leap forward. What you are able to do, now, is truly remarkable. I love learning new things, and this medium never ceases to amaze me. Because its so popular, seeing what other animators create is a joy. From this I can develop my own way of working. I particularly like to work in 2D motion graphics. I dabble in 3D animation as well, but my passion will always be 2D.
Now you know a little bit about my credentials, why not take a look at my work? If you want to have a chat about a job or the weather, drop me an email or head on over to one of those newfangled social networks i'm on. Link's below.
